When your only girl tells you she wants a Barbie party, you make it happen! I definitely relived my childhood a little bit and thoroughly enjoyed planning this one! After a couple years of low key birthdays (thanks covid) it was important to make this one a big deal. I absolutely love planning parties, picking out each detail to make it feel unique and special! I’ve planned many fun parties for the kids over the years but this one was like a childhood dream for me!
This past weekend we celebrated Khloe’s 5th birthday party! We had 3 little girls from daycare and her cousin over to play, decorate some cupcakes and colour some Barbie pictures. They enjoyed the Barbie box more than I expected and were excited for their special Barbie gift at their place setting.
We did an afternoon party and she insisted on pizza to eat so I went easy on the food for once, kept it simple and fun. She wanted fruit wands, of course, and sprinkle wafer cookies. Chip bags for germ friendly grabbing and then their cupcakes.
On the table: For on the table we did plates and utensils, cups for drinks, a mini Barbie figure for each place setting, the mocktail version of cotton candy champagne (cranberry ginger ale), and of course she had to have flowers! Take a closer look at her flowers here.
Activity: What would a party be without anything for them to do? Yes we have the yard, playground, toys but I also found cute Barbie colouring books and fun crayons at the dollar store. I tore out the pages for a Barbie colouring table. I didn’t expect them to slow down and colour much but it was actually a hit!
Khloe was pretty set on decorating their own cupcakes, and with a group of young kids and germs I thought that was a perfect idea! Cue the cupcake decorating. They seemed to love it and it was perfect to kill some time to decorate before eating them.
Along with their mini Barbie at their place setting, we created the cutest little goodie bags to go home with each child, including a hot wheels version for her cousin. A look at the goodie bag process here.
I linked Khloe’s special party dress and my dress below.
And last but not least, sharing the invite I made on Canva. I had it printed off to hand out and so so happy with how it turned out!
